Representatives from Banna Rescue and the Irish Heart Foundation receiving cheques at Tralee Boxing Club.

Tralee Boxing Club, Monavalley would like to thank Manor West retail park firstly for allowing us to hold our spinathon enabling us to reach our goal of purchasing a community defibrillator and to give back to two very worthy causes.

Banna Sea Rescue and The Irish Heart foundation received cheques from Tralee Boxing club on Saturday night, after the success of the recent fundraising Spinathon.

Tralee Boxing Club chose to donate to the two worthy charities, and this resulted in both charities receiving  €1,000 euros each.

The fundraising event took place at the start of November, after coach Shamey O Mahoney offered to spin on his bike for 10 hours straight, to raise money for a community defibrillator which would benefit both the club and other organisations in Monavalley, where the club is situated.

On November the 5th Shamey pedalled his bike non-stop for 10 hours in Manor West shopping centre, along with support from club volunteers, his granddaughter Amelia and David and Paudie Clifford. The money he raised will buy the defibrilator and train club members how to use the life saving equipment.

We are very grateful to everyone for making the event so successful, especially to Banna rescue and The Irish Heart foundation for the work they did in the background.

We would also like to thank The Meadowlands Hotel for donating the main  prize of a fabulous night in their hotel with breakfast included.

None of this would have worked if we hadn’t received so much support from Tralee town itself, and for that, Tralee Boxing Club are sincerely grateful. We are proud to be apart of such a fantastic town.
