The MAOS is a registered Foundation based in Malta dedicated to preventing loss of life at sea by providing assistance to migrants who find themselves in distress while crossing the Mediterranean Sea in unsafe vessels.

“After seeing the image of the poor child washed up on the shore, I just had to do something,” aid Cathriona Rohan, owner of Cathriona’s Hair Salon.

“I had a chat with the girls in the salons and we decided to run a fundraising event to help raise vital funds for the migrants. I decided I would donate a full day’s takings from both salons to the fund to help kick it off. The girls themselves then came up with the idea to give up their wages on the day too which I feel is a really strong and generous gesture,” she said.

There will be a collection drum in both salons on the day in which people are being encouraged to donate what they can to the cause.

Cathriona’s Hair Salon is situated on Mary Street in Tralee and Strand Street in Castlegregory.
