A STAND-UP comedian, born and raised in Ard Na Lí Oakpark, is beginning to make waves on the Irish comedy scene.

Ronan Grace along with his writing partner, Trevor Browne, have written and performed several comedy sketches that will feature on RTE’s ‘Comedy Bites’, comedy shorts series on RTE Player.

Each week, a new set of characters will emerge from Ronan and Trevor’s collective brain-boxes with the ambition of making a sketch series that will feature on your TV sets.

“We’re delighted to get the sketches out which we have been writing over the course of the last two years,” said Ronan.

Ronan has been learning his craft on the Dublin comedy circuit over the past six years. There’s been a few bumps along the way, but he’s beginning to plough his own furrow on the notoriously difficult stand-up scene.

“It’s one of those things with comedy; there aren’t too many overnight successes. Thankfully it’s coming to fruition after a fair few years of hard work. Some of it was tough, but it most of it was pretty enjoyable. It beats a real job!”

Wheels are in motion for the duo to produce a pilot sketch show for RTE called ‘The lads of Comedy – Comedy Sketch Show’ which may air around Christmas.

“We’re hoping the sketches will give people a taste of what those characters are like so we can do a pilot on real television! Hopefully there will be a positive reaction. We’re currently in a development phase moving towards a pilot being shot,” he said.

Over the weekend, Ronan was performing at the Cat Laughs festival in Kilkenny and will be performing at festivals around Ireland throughout the summer.

For our Dublin based readers, you can see Ronan perform in Whelan’s on Thursday night with The Lads of Comedy.

You can watch Comedy Shorts here on the RTE player.
