THE windows of two Tralee and Dingle Railway carriages have been boarded following an attack from vandals.
“It is a precaution taken by Kerry County Council after three carriage windows were smashed by vandals over the weekend,” said Kerry tourism officer, John Griffin.
Gardaí are currently investigating the incident. The train carriages are located adjacent to the railway line stop in Blennerville behind The Station House Restaurant.

Efforts to reopen the railway line, that ran from Aqua Dome to Blennerville, are currently ongoing but the project is dependent on funding which must be secured by Kerry County Council.
There are experienced volunteers waiting for the project to get the go-ahead to lend their services should it proceed. The Tralee & Dingle Railway Preserervation Society have a committee in place to help develop the project. You can check out their Facebook page here.
A revived line was opened in 1993 as a tourist attraction and ran from outside the Aqua Dome to Blennerville. It operated until 2006. The Dingle and Tralee railway originally ran from 1891 to 1953 and was at the time one of the most westerly railways in Europe. Scroll down for photos…
