TRALEE Educate Together took a break from class on Tuesday to take part in a nationwide event to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.
Organised by Today FM, they asked people around the country to ‘Be A Dancer For Cancer’ on April 30 as part of their Dare to Care is a charity campaign.
Anne Condon at Tralee Educate Together suggested they take part and two students from sixth class, Catriona and Zara (aided by fourth class pupils) picked up the challenge of getting the children ready to perform ‘Shut Up and Dance’ by Walk The Moon, which was chosen as the winning song to dance to by listeners at 10.45am yesterday.

All pupils brought in a cash donation and around €150 was raised. They joined listeners who have organised more than 200 dance events around the country. Schools, offices, factories, hotels and football clubs were all dancing to raise much needed funds.
The money raised for the event will help the Irish Cancer Society to fund lifesaving research to improve methods of detecting and treating cancer, provide information, care and support to those affected by cancer, and raise awareness of how cancer can be prevented.
