REPORTS

U10 Boys

It was an eventful weekend for our u10 boys. Some of them were lucky enough to line out with the Warriors on Saturday night in front of a sell out crowd in the Complex.

The boys were starstruck as they took the hands of their local heroes to run out on to the court and some were still speechless after the national anthem.

Nerves began to set in as their next big moment of the night was impending and after several last minute dashes to the toilet and final words of encouragement from their coach Oliver they ran on to the court at half time to rapturous applause.

The boys entertained the crowds with their wonderful display showing off all their skills – hopefully this won’t be their last time in front of a Tralee crowd and we might see some of them in the Warriors jersey in the future.

The boys were up early Sunday morning for their first blitz of the season out in Causeway. They played back to back games v Cobras and Ballybunion Wildcats and were victorious in both.

Coaches Oliver and Leeroy were delighted with their performance and teamwork. Well done to all on eventful weekend, keep up the hard work.

Home Game – U18 Tralee Imperials –v- Glenbeigh

11th October @ Mounthawk, 8.10 p.m.

Coaches: Tomas O’Hanlon & Philip Sicat

Injured: Daire Kennelly, Leeroy Odiahi

This was the first game of the season for the U18 boys.

Q1 – The game started with a frantic pace due to it being the first game of the season for both teams, with Imperials having a new coach (Tomas O’Hanlon) and two of their post players being injured.  Raul Vencel scored the first 8 points to settle the team.  The quarter ended 13-11 to Tralee.

Q2 – Both teams went basket for basket, and the lead remained at two points by the end of the second quarter.  Tralee hadn’t yet settled into the game.  (24-22 to Tralee)

Q 3 – The Coaches changed the game plan, by full court pressing the opposing team and instructing the team to pass the ball at a faster pace.  Some great rebounding by Oliver Hart, DawidKapkowski and Tristan Raymond, along with good shooting by Philip Corkery, Ziggy Kalteka, Aidan Mangan, David Burke and Raul Vencel.

Within minutes, Tralee had increased the lead by 20 points at the end of the third quarter (50-30 to Tralee).

Q4 – The intensity from the third quarter carried on to the end of the game, with a great steal and basket from Josh Hayes.  The game finished with an impressive pass from David Burke to Aidan Mangan to put the team over 60 points to win the game.  Fantastic teamwork among all players and coaches.

Final Score 61 – 39 to Tralee Imperials

2 Top Scorers:

Philip Corkery                   19

Final Score: Imperials A 9 – St. Anne’s 20

Referee: Charles O’Sullivan
Table Officials: Niamh and Caitriona Collins

Girls U11 Imperials A (Blues) had their first competitive game of the season against a strong team from St. Anne’s (Farranfore). The game was played at a very fast tempo from start to finish. Our girls had an excellent 3rd quarter, keeping the opposition scoreless. Well done to all the girls. Thanks to all who came along to support. Team: Aoife Barrett, Abbie Canty, Katie Casey, Eva Costello, Eabha Duggan, Rita Feely, Kelly Fitzgerald, Rellaine Guardiano, Mary Angela Lynch, Aoife Moynihan, Millie O’Brien, Lisa Slattery.

Feel free to edit as you see fit. I am also not 100% sure what normally goes in for this age group as it is only developmental. Charles was lovely to have reffing, wasn’t overly picky with the transgressions made and he kept the game flowing. In case you need it, the scorers for the girls were Kelly Fitzgerald (8), Aoife Barrett (2) and Lisa Slattery (1).
