Tralee Imperials v Tralee Tigers u12 Plate 1/4 Final 2018
Our u12 boys (Team 1) played Tralee Tigers in a closely fought Shield 1/4 Final on Monday evening in Presentations Gym. Our first quarter team set the tone for a strong defensive display with Brian doing an outstanding job on Tigers tallest player. Fionnán controlled the tempo from the point and Will and Sam were tenacious at all times. Conor grabbed some great rebounds and his help defense was crucial in this period. Our second quarter team of Tomas, Darragh, Johnny, Tadgh and Nadal continued in the same vein and we were only one point down at half time. We pulled away slightly in the third period with some great scores from Fionnán, Brian and Tomas. Darragh, Sam and Tadgh contributed hugely on the defensive end and helped us into an eight point lead. To their credit Tigers stayed in the game and were only five points down with two minutes to play. The boys played smart basketball in the final minutes and we managed to stay in front to complete a five point win. 32-27. We now look forward to a tough semi-final against Glenbeigh in the next round.Well done to the boys who all contributed to a fantastic performance.
U16 Girls Div1 Imperials v St.Bridgets
Imperials played their home game against St.Bridgets in John Mitchels last Thursday night and started the game very brightly winning the first quarter 11-0, they pushed on and won the second quarter 14-9, the third and fourth quarter were tighter with St.Bridgets winning the third 8-9 and Imperials winning the fourth 10-8 to leave the final score Imperials 43 St.Bridgets 26
Imperials would like to congratulate Pres Tralee on winning the All Ireland and especially the four U16 Imperial players Rachel, Mary, Ciara and Sarah.
