Tralee Jobless Figure Rises In July

THE number of unemployed people signing on in Tralee rose slightly in Kerry during July. This is the second month in a row to see a rise in the number of jobless according to figure from the Central Statistics Office.

There were 4,286 on the live register last month, up 12 on June’s figure of 4.286. However, that’s 797 less than July 2016 when there were 5,083 signing on.

Overall, 8,995 people signed on in Kerry’s social welfare offices, up 68 on June. This is a 16% drop on last July’s figure though.

Elsewhere in the county, Killarney was up 25 to 1,203, Listowel rose 38 to 1,862;  Killorglin increased by five to 674, while Caherciveen was also up 13 to 342.

However, Dingle’s number was down 14 to 408 while Kenmare was also down by 11 to 220.
