Tralee LEA COVID Incidence Rate Over Double The National Average

THERE were 400 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Tralee Local Electoral Area in the 14 day period up to Monday, October 25, according to figures available on the Government’s COVID-19 data hub.

This leaves Tralee LEA in the top 10 highest incidence rates in the country, along with Kenmare and Castleisland LEAs.

Tralee LEA has a 14-day incidence rate of 1,210 per 100,000 of the population, over double the national incidence of 587 per 100,000 as of last Monday, making it the sixth highest rate per LEA in Ireland and the second highest in Kerry. It’s another substantial rise on the number of cases for the fortnight up to October 18 (316).

In all, there were 1,555  new cases recorded in Kerry during the fortnight period, up from the 1,206 cases recorded in the fortnight up to October 18.

The LEA with the  highest incidence in the county is Kenmare LEA with 247 new cases, a rate of 1,256.9 per 100,000, the third highest in the country. Castleisland saw 190 new cases and a rate of 1108 per 100,000, the eighth highest in the country.

Listowel saw 286 new cases and a rate of 997.4 per 100,000. The Corca Dhuibhne Local Electoral Area saw 120 new cases and a rate of 846 per 100,000.

The Killarney Electoral Area saw 244 new cases, a current 14-day incidence rate of 824 per 100k of the population. All LEAs in Kerry were above the national average.

There have been 10,444 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kerry, since the pandemic began according to the latest data.
