Tralee LEA Sees A Further Decrease In COVID Cases

THE number of new COVID-19 cases in the Tralee Local Electoral Area (LEA) has fallen again according to the latest figures available on the Government’s COVID-19 data hub.

There were 133new confirmed cases in the two week period up to Monday, May 2, compared to the 177 in the fortnight up to Monday, April 25.

Tralee LEA has a 14-day incidence rate of 402.6 per 100,000 of the population, the highest in the county, and it’s still above the national incidence of 291 per 100,000.

The incidence rate in Kerry is 302.6 per 100,000. In all, there were 447 new cases recorded in Kerry during the fortnight period up to Wednesday, May 4, the seventh highest rate in the country.

The Corca Dhuibhne Local Electoral Area saw 54 new cases and a rate of 380.8 per 100,000. The Castleisland LEA had 61 new cases and a rate of 355.8 per 100,000.  Listowel LEA saw 93 new cases and a rate of 324.3 per 100,000.

There are two LEAs in Kerry with an incidence rate below the national average. The Killarney Electoral Area saw 85 new cases, a current 14-day incidence rate of 287.1 per 100k of the population. Kenmare LEA had 63 new cases, a rate of 251.4 per 100,000.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kerry, since the pandemic began according to the latest data up to Wednesday, May 4, is 37,924.
