Tralee LEA Sees Decrease In New COVID Cases Over Fortnight Period

THERE was a decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the Tralee Local Electoral Area in the 14 day period up to Monday, November 1.

There were 373 new confirmed cases in that period compared to the 400 in the fortnight up to Monday, October 25, according to figures available on the Government’s COVID-19 data hub.

Tralee LEA has a 14-day incidence rate of 1,129 (down from 1,210) per 100,000 of the population, still well above the national incidence of 650 per 100,000 as of last Monday.

In all, there were 1,492 new cases recorded in Kerry during the fortnight period, down from the 1,555 cases recorded in the fortnight up to October 25.

The LEA with the  highest incidence in the county is Castleisland LEA with 221 new cases, a rate of 1,289 per 100,000, the third highest in the country.

Kenmare saw 283 new cases and a rate of 1129.2 per 100,000, the tenth highest in the country.

Listowel saw 256 new cases and a rate of 892.8 per 100,000. The Corca Dhuibhne Local Electoral Area saw 119 new cases and a rate of 839.2 per 100,000.

The Killarney Electoral Area saw 240 new cases, a current 14-day incidence rate of 810.6 per 100k of the population. All LEAs in Kerry were above the national average.

There have been 11,109 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kerry, since the pandemic began according to the latest data.
