Tralee Man To Compete In National Chefs Cup Competition

A TRALEE native will compete in the Aramark’s National Chef’s Cup to take place next Tuesday.

Michael Hannafin been shortlisted to compete at the the event in CityWest, Dublin.

Aramark is one of Ireland’s premier food companies – if you’ve ever visited Dundrum Shopping Centre, Croke Park or the Guinness Storehouse you have been served food prepared by Aramark chefs.

Michael Hannafin joined Aramark in 2014. He is the Chef Manager in Clearstream Global Securities in Cork, a role he has been in for over two years. Prior to joining Aramark, Michael owned a Pub/Bed & Breakfast business in Cork City.

Michael grew up in Tralee and began his culinary professional career in the Parknasilla Great Southern Hotel in the early 1990s.

Eight of Aramark Ireland’s finest chefs will compete at the National Chef’s Cup aiming to win their chance to represent Ireland at the European Chef’s Cup which will be held in April. Chefs from across Europe will compete for top honours in Barcelona.

 

The judging panel will include Irish Michelin-star-winning head chef and co-owner of the restaurant Chapter One, Ross Lewis; Brendan O’Neill, Executive Director Panel of Chefs Ireland and Aramark’s UK Culinary Director, Paul Bloxham. The judging panel will be chaired by Derek Reilly Aramark Ireland’s Culinary Director.
