TRALEE is in mourning for a man who did much for the social life of the town for many decades.

Danny Leane, formerly of The Abbey Inn, passed away on Wednesday surrounded by his beloved family. Danny, originally from Killarney, bought the bar on June 8, 1968 and turned it into an iconic music venue during the 1970s and 80s.

It was a legendary spot for rock fans growing up during those decades and beyond and adapted to social and music trends over the years. It was sold in 2019 and is currently closed.
