Proceedings of 2017 AGM:
During the 2017 AGM, Tralee Parnells elected officers for the upcoming 2018 season.  The lineups of management teams was also given, including for our first ever solo entry into the county monir competitions.

The names of the appointed officers and excerpts of interest from the officer reports to the AGM will be published in upcoming weekly notes.

Clanmaurice Camogie Final:
Well done to Clanmaurice Camogie who had a great run this year and competed in the replay of the  All-Ireland junior club camogie championship final.

Kilmessan of Meath were never in front in the drawn encounter at Crettyard and it took a goal with almost the last act of the game in the third minute of extra time from Aileen Donnelly to secure a replay, four minutes after Aoife Behan had seemed to snatch glory for Clanmaurice in what was a first appearance by a Kerry club in an All-Ireland Camogie Final.

Kilmessan struggled to break down gritty Clanmaurice on this occasion too but were able to create just a bit more in the second half to edge clear for victory.  Crucially, Kilmessan had a supporting cast of players able to find the target from play.

That was a luxury that Clanmaurice did not possess and with the brilliant Patrice Diggin nursing a hand injury.  Commiserations to the Kingdom ladies for not achieving the ultimate title on this occasion, but well done on a super season.

Camogie in 2017:
At the Tralee Parnells AGM Carmel O’Shea-Maloney presented a comprehensive review of 2017 Camogie season and provided some very encouraging insights on our plans for further growth and progress in 2018.

Among the positive news reported on, between 2016 and 2017, there was a 52% increase in female player numbers across the club.  With this level of growth, we need to continue to also up our game on the mentoring, coaching and general players support side.

In terms of 2018 Camogie Team Management, our lineups were outlined.  Under 8’s will be managed by Suzanne Chute with coaches/mentors: Ide Hennessy and Áine O’Sullivan.

Under 10’s will be managed by Katie Trant, with coaches/mentors: Conor Clifford, Katie Doyle and Loretto O Sullivan. Under 12’s will be managed by Ann O’Loughlin and Luke O’Loughlin, with coaches/mentors: Lynda Murphy Harris. Under 14’s will be managed by Mike Roger O’Sullivan, with mentors: Séamus Cadogan and Miriam Rohan. Under 16’s/Minors management will include Carmel O’Shea-Maloney, Aisling Sharkey and Richard McCluskey (as available).  Buiochas mór le Carmel Ní Shéaghdha, Bean Uí Mhaoldomhnaigh.
