Well Done U10 Boys:

Played in fantastic weather our boys took part in an U10 hurling blitz in John Mitchels Saturday morning.

The lads played some great hurling over 4 tough games and were delighted to come away with 4 wins. Need to get the rest of the panel back training from the 6th of April and we’ll drive on for the year. Well done to Giles O Grady and David O Dea for organising the event, great to get all clubs playing games early in the year. More of the same lads.

See team photo on Parnells Facebook. Panel Ryan Sheehy, David Sargent, Jack Shanahan, Kyle Benson, Cathal O’ Sullivan, Jimmy McCarthy, Ronan Brick, Jayden Collins, Sean Sargent, Jayden Sugrue, Luke Hanafin O’ Meara.

These players got well deserved praise from their mentors following that busy day of 4 Blitz games in Mitchels against Crotta, Kenmare, Firies and Ballyheigue. On behalf of the U10 Hurling coaches and the club a massive congratulations to you all on your great display of hurling at the blitz. You all did exactly as you were instructed and showed great skill and abilities in all your games and a never give up attitude.

It was particularly impressive with so many of you paying together for the first time.  I hope many of you will take part in the Parnells Easter Hurling Camp and look forward to seeing everyone back at training after Easter. Training resumes on April 6th at 7 pm in Caherslee. To facilitate team communion for the season we will be operating a WhatsApp group. Tralee Parnells U10 coaches Brian Sargent, Agnes Sheehy, Kieran Fitzgerald, Paudie Sugrue.

Under 12 Boys Super Games:

Our U12 panel had a very busy week having to play round 1 + 2 of the U12 Super Games within 5 days of each other. On Bank Holiday Monday we traveled to Rathmore and played Kenmare/Kilgarvan and Firies in very competitive well contested games in what can only be described as Sub-Arctic conditions. Sunday we traveled to Kenmare/Kilgarvan and played the local club in a series of small sided games and 1 15 a side game. We fared well in all the small sided games and just fell short in the 15 aside game. Putting up a valiant effort in the second half but Kenmare/Kilgarvan’s performance in the first half shaded it for them. These are two very evenly matched teams and we look forward to more competitive games with them during the year.

Well done to all the boys. These U12 Super Games are a great way for us to blow off the cobwebs of the winter and are serving us well in our preparation for the Croke Park Blitz Trip.

Under 14 Camogie:

Great credit is due to the 14 girls who lined out in Caherslee Sunday to face Killarney in the second Féile B game. Killarney brought a large travelling squad, but through attrition from injuries, illnesses, clashes etc, we unfortunately had only 14 girls on the day.

These players stuck to their task and showed improvements across the panel from their gutsy performance in Barraduff last weekend. With many young players from the under 12 panel and still in fifth class, this was a real test for Parnells. It was very encouraging to see so many of the players step up and challenge for every ball and contest play after play.

Killarney once again showed superior match readiness and fitness, but the improvement among the Parnells players who lined out on the day gives grounds for optimism that we can continue to build this season. At the final whistle Aoife Foran who was stalwart on the line, got well deserved neutral praise for her never say die attitude and her continued rallying of our defenders as they came under repeated pressure.

Please make a note in calendars, that the date for the 3rd game in this series is tentatively fixed for Sunday the 15th of April. Thanks for pitch set-up and mentoring during the game, to volunteers Ann, Richard and Carmel. Parnells panel on the day were Saorlaith Moore, Emma McCluskey, Gráinne Leahy, Caoilinn Hickey, Shona O’Connor, Lana O’Connell, Aoife O’Sullivan, Jessica O’Loughlin, Aoife Foran, Danielle Griffin, Clodagh O Sullivan, Sile Lynch, Shauna Harris, Labhaoise Mansfield.

Scór:

Congratulations to all the children who participated in Scór last Wednesday night, Ye did Parnells proud. Alisha Daughton and the music group qualify for the next round.

Minors:

Our Minors got their playing season off to a start this week against Abbeydorney.  We were missing players, but great to get match practice and we not want to get the full panel back and drive on.

St Patrick’s Day 2018:

Thanks to the marchers and musicians who helped make it a wonderful St Patrick days for the club. Michelle Ann Houlihan had her musicians well prepared and they entertained the masses on a well decorated float. Twas nippy but we had a great turn out of kids and parents marching behind the float with some kids taking their marching very seriously 🙂  Our very talented musical group the entertained the crowd in the square after the parade. Hope everyone had a lovely day.

Confirmations:

Congratulations to Parnells players who celebrated confirmations in the past week.

Happy Easter:

To all our families, supporters and friends.
