Minors vs Ballyduff:

Our minors had a great win against Ballyduff in the North Kerry league Sunday. Played in horrible conditions we played against a strong wind in the first half and were 4 points down at half time. Our boys upped the intensity in the second half and after a mighty battle ended up winning by 3. Final score 1-7 to 1-10.

Kerry Camogie B Féile:

A big thank you, to all the girls who traveled to Killarney Sunday evening, both players and spectators, as well as the parents who came along in support.  We were under the cosh in poor conditions but our players defended stoutly, with several on the team catching the eye as continuing to improve in skills and showing great determination.  To cap it off on a good optimistic note for the ongoing season, a ball worked forward doggedly from defence led to a close in free outside the home penalty area.  The ensuing battling play saw our girls work for each other in a real team move, steering the possession from near the corner flag, back into the small square, to rattle the Killarney net moments before the final whistle.  Well done all.

Littlewoods GAA U12 Hurling Blitz in Dublin:

Tralee Parnells U12 hurlers took part in the Littlewoods/Gaa U12 Hurling Blitz this past Friday 6th of April. The panel of 27 players along with coaches and parents/supporters left a wet Caherslee at 7.15 am bound for Croke Park. With the obligatory stop at Obama Plaza the travelling party arrived at Croke Park in time for the U12 panels allotted time for the Stadium Tour.

On completion of the tour the boys prepared for their blitz games v Blackrock (Co Limerick), Feakle/Kilanena (Co Clare) and Whitechurch (Co Cork). The Winter Academy and March Super Games stood to the boys as they held their own with their opposition from Munster.

They played with great courage and determination, producing three very skillful displays of hurling and teamwork. The boys delight and satisfaction can be see from their many pictures taken at the event.

Many thanks to the Club Officers, Coaches, Parents and Referee and all who supported Parnells on the day. Also a special thanks to Croke Park, the Munster GAA and Kerry GAA for providing this fantastic opportunity to the boys.

See the fantastic photos on Parnells social media of the is really special day. The U12 panel now enter a busy period of hurling with the U12 League and U11 competition starting in earnest.

Historic Camogie Secondary Schools Blitz:

Mercy Mounthawk Secondary School, Tralee was a hive of activity on Wednesday as local schools competed in a Camogie Blitz organised by Kerry Camogie Development Officer, Laura Collins. Mounthawk, Presentation and Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí all provided excellent exhibitions of Camogie. It is fantastic to see so many playing the sport in the county and there is no doubt that many of them have the ability to go on and represent their county with pride. Go raibh míle maith agaibh to all who helped to make the day such a fantastic success and a special word of thanks to Laura Collins who is doing fantastic work promoting the game in Kerry. This was a historic milestone for the ongoing and encouraging development of Camogie in Tralee, the first time 4 teams of girls took to the field in a Secondary Schools competition. Some great photos of the day on Kerry Camogie social media.

Under 12 Boys:

Tralee Parnells had a good win on the 10th away to a very determined Ballyduff side in Division 1 of the U12 Hurling League.

This was a game that was in the melting pot for long periods, with both teams giving their all. Parnells held a slender lead at half time and on the resumption of the second half Ballyduff piled on the pressure and regained the lead. Stout Parnells defending and midfield play throughout the second period allowed our forwards to operate efficiently and we had a 5 point lead at the final whistle.

We traveled with 16 players to Ballyduff and all players contributed to a great win.  Final score Ballyduff 1-5 Tralee Parnells 3-7.

Defeat for our second U12s panel against a good St Pats/Dr Crokes team in Div 3 of the county league that evening in Killarney. We traveled with 18 players including 9 players making their debut at the U12s.

A dominant first half by the home team left us 4-01 to 0-00 down at half time and despite a much better second half we were unable to register a score. Great experience for the lads who all got good playing time and hopefully that will stand to us for our next game against Crotta.  Final score 4-02 to 0-00

Busy Friday in Caherslee:

Busy evening in Caherslee with 4 hurling and 5 camogie teams training along with our two Under 12 teams playing in the County league.  Parnells Div 1 team were defeated by a very impressive St Brendan’s team.
