Return to Training

The club is actively preparing for the safe return of all of our teams to training in Caherslee from June 29th. We are delighted with the response from players and coaches alike who all seem really keen to get back on the hurling and camogie pitches.

A number of online meetings have already been held and a training schedule is currently being prepared. Once this schedule is finalised, each Manager will be in contact with their respective teams to inform them of their days and times for training.

Initially, the club is planning to ‘pilot’ the return to training with one hurling team and one camogie team, along with their respective Covid Supervisors. This is to ensure that the club has all the necessary procedures in place and to highlight any potential areas for improvement before all teams safely return.

In advance of the return, all players, coaches, mentors and guardians (for underage players) will be asked to complete the Gaelic Games online education module through the GAA eLearning platform, which will be available from Thursday 19th June. They will then be asked to complete the online health questionnaire in advance of the first training session. Players will only be allowed to return to training when they (or their parents or guardians) have completed this health questionnaire.

When returning to training, players will be asked to bring their own clearly marked water bottles and only members from the same family should travel together to training.

Further details around the logistics of returning to training will be provided by each of the team Managers.

Covid Supervisor

As per the GAAs Return to Play Guidelines, every Club should have Covid Supervisors who have undertaken the Covid-19 Club Education Module. The Club Executive will communicate the details of the appointed Covid Supervisor(s) for each team to all officers, players, coaching staff and parents/guardians and will ensure that appointed person(s) receive all necessary support to undertake the role. The role might include:

• Ensuring all players and coaches have completed the Return to Play health questionnaire for the team they are involved with

• Communicating and distributing necessary safety information and protocols to all players, coaching personnel and parent/guardians prior to the reopening of Club grounds

• Monitoring record of attendees at training within the Club

• Making necessary representations to Club Executive with regard to any Covid-19 concerns

• Reporting any areas of non-compliance immediately to Club Executive and ensuring that these are addressed

• Keeping up to date on all relevant guidelines from HSE, HSA and Croke Park.

In the case of a player or coaching personnel experiencing or displaying Covid-19 symptoms the Covid Supervisors should Inform the Club Executive if there is a confirmed case or if they have been made aware of an individual with Covid-19 symptoms.

The club is delighted and grateful that a number of parents have already come forward and said they will fulfil this role. As there needs to be one Covid Supervisor per team (hurling & camogie), we still need a number of other Covid Supervisors. If you feel you can help out, please contact any member of the Executive or the Team Managers.

Registration & Membership

We are delighted that all our players will get the opportunity to train and play again from June 29th. Of course, just as in a normal season, all members must be registered. However, the club recognises that this isn’t a normal season and has made the decision to reduce the 2020 membership fees published at the beginning of the year.  The membership that will apply for the remainder of the season is as follows:

Under 6s – €25

U8s – U18s – €50

2 Juveniles, same family – €100

Family membership – €130

Adult players- €100

Student (over 18) – €60

Non-playing member / coach – €30

The membership fees collected will be used to offset affiliation and insurance costs already incurred, as well as going towards the ongoing costs of running the club. We will of course welcome all our players back in advance of registration but we would ask that all players are registered and membership is paid as soon as possible. Unfortunately, if a player isn’t registered, they will not be permitted to play any matches, once they begin in July/August.

Registration is via our online registration form and membership can be paid via bank transfer – details will be provided on the registration form. A link to the updated registration forms will be circulated within the next few days.

The club is unlikely to be in a position to run many fundraising events for the remainder of the year, so it is of utmost importance that the membership is paid. The club would be very grateful of any other offers of financial assistance, particularly as we are likely to incur additional costs in 2020 (e.g. hand sanitisers etc) in order to provide a safe environment for all our players.
