traleeparnells 2Hugely Successful Monster Blitzes Day

Please visit the Parnells Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TraleeParnellsHurlingClub for some fantastic group photos and action shots from the Parnells Monster Blitz Day.

It was great to see the words of praise  for Parnells on our Facebook page afterwards, from visiting clubs and parents, from Kerry and beyond.

Parnells, Ballyduff, Ardfert and Abbeydorney took part in the 11 a side under 16s blitz which Abbeydorney won.  Parnells, St. Brendan’s, Ballyheigue and Firies took part in a great under 6 bitz on the day.  The under 12s hosted seven visiting clubs, including Sixmilebridge from Clare who ran out overall winners in that age category.

Many thanks to Tom O Donoghue for the wonderful pictures of the blitz. Tom is a great supporter of the GAA and great friend of the Parnells club.  Along with our 3 girls teams taking part in blitzes in Killarney on the same day, Saturday the 26th of September 2015 definitely has to be the largest participatory hurling event ever convened in the Tralee area with hundreds of youngsters playing in multiple matches across the age groups.

It is very encouraging to see our local youth get this many opportunities to play and enjoy the fantastic sport of hurling, in never before seen numbers.

We are delighted to witness the progress so many of our players are making, in skills and ability.   Well done to the many organisers and volunteers who made a huge undertaking go off smoothly and enjoyably.

Mark Doe Cookery night:

On Friday 9th October in the Meadowlands Hotel a cookery demonstration from Mark Doe, doors open at 7pm.  The evening will feature a guest speaker on preventative strategies regarding sports injuries in the young hurler.

Excellent spot prizes during the evening.  Tickets are now available to buy online via Parnells blog, and can also be purchased from mentors, or bought on the night at the door.

Veronica Stack Memorial Tournament:

Among the Parnells Camogie fixtures in Killarney on the 26th, our under 9s Parnells played Clon. Green,  St. Colum’s, Midleton, the under 11s faced Killarney, Killeedy, Midleton while our Parnells  u15 to u12s took on Killeedy,  St. Colum’s, Killarney.  An action packed day, the most Camogie matches ever played on a single day by Parnells, with some victories for the Tralee sides along the way and all very much enjoyed by our girls.

Under 14 South Kerry League:

Well done to Parnells on defeating Crokes to go through to the under 14 South Kerry Final on Friday the 9th.  This was a Cracking u14 performance in the win over Dr Crokes, on a final score 6-6 to 2-7.

It was truly a team effort and a very hard fought and at times very physical and tough game.  The Killarney side had a few very strong players who took most of their scores.  But in the end teamwork and the strength and depth across the Parnells panel won out.

Kilmoyley County Champions:

Congratulations to the new County Champions Kilmoyley from all at Tralee Parnells.

Indoor Hurling Academy:

For health and safety reasons plus our coaches sanity we are limiting the number of places on the indoor Hurling Academy to 50. There are a limited number of spaces left but get the application back asap to avoid tantrums from your children.

Schools outreach:

Parnells local primary schools outreach programme continues this term, see photos on Parnells Facebook page of the coaching in Nohoval National school and Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn.
