Senior Camogie

Tralee Parnells Camogie are pleased to welcome P.J. Ryan to our senior coaching ranks.  Our women started competing in the County Junior League in 2020 and in 2021 this competition will expand when CilArd field a team this year.

So it is a perfect time for P.J. to join us and bring us the benefit of his playing and coaching experience.  P.J. originally hails from Holycross in Tipp and more recently from Abbeydorney, both hurling strongholds.

Our own Diarmuid Brennan remembers his club meeting Holycross in the 1989 Tipp county final, but we hope they won’t let that come between them at Tralee Parnells. It will be great to have P.J. on board, with the steady stream of players coming through from our underage teams into the minor and junior ranks.

Volunteer Awards

Congratulations to Mike Roger O Sullivan, winner of the 2020 Camogie Association Volunteer Awards.  Mike Roger has given so much of his time to Tralee Parnells over the years and always with such enthusiasm and positivity. This award is very much deserved. Well done and a big thank you Mike from everyone at Tralee Parnells.

National Club Draw

The National Club Draw has been deferred and we now ask to have all tickets are returned by Tuesday 6th April.

Please keep up the momentum on ticket sales as all proceeds will go to the club’s capital fund which will be used to help secure a home ground and build a ball wall. The club’s top seller will win 2x tickets to the 2021 All-Ireland Hurling Final (Ts & Cs apply)!.  Extra tickets are available from David: 085-1355566

Every Step Counts Challenge

Tralee Parnells are taking part in the GAA ‘Mylife Every Step Counts’ challenge as part of Ireland Lights Up.

Everyone is encouraged to get out walking or jogging regularly between now and the 3rd March, while of course, adhering to health guidelines. If we track more than 4k KM we are in with a chance of winning some O’Neills vouchers for the club.  We are steadily climbing the leaderboard but we need as many members as possible to join to hit the 4k KM target.

If you have not yet joined simply download the MyLife App, join the Munster Challenge and select Tralee Parnells Hurling & Camogie Club. You must be over 18 years of age to register.  The App will link to other tracking applications like and Fitbit, Strava…etc.

As outdoor gatherings may not take place under current restrictions, please ensure that you abide by the latest public health guidelines at all times. Get active, Stay healthy and Stay safe!

Lockdown Activities

While we wait for restrictions to be eased, keep an eye on our web pagehttps://traleeparnellshurling.blogspot.com/ and search for Lockdown Drills where you will find some drills and activities for all age groups.

Check your Hurling Helmet

In advance of a return to action, all players and parents should check their hurling helmets to ensure that they fit properly and that they are not damaged in any way.  A faulty helmet may not provide adequate protection in the event of an incident.  Full details including a list of manufacturers that meet the NSAI standard is available on our web page: https://traleeparnellshurling.blogspot.com/.

Croke Park Update

The January edition of the GAA newsletter contains some positive news for the upcoming club competition scene. The GAA’s director of player, club and games administration Feargal McGill has said that “The GAA is committed to ensuring that any delay on the inter-county will not have a negative knock-on effect on club championship games.” McGill indicates that the inter-county programme will be re-jigged if necessary rather than be allowed to run on indefinitely at the expense of the club championship.  Let’s hope that all players can soon return to some level of activity.
