Tralee Parnells Under 7 boys and girls.

U7 Boys and Girls

The Under 7’s hosted manager David Lucid’s home town of Ballyheigue in Caherslee last Saturday Morning.  Scorching skills accompanied the scorching weather and our young players sporting the brand new jerseys sponsored by Casey Stephenson Accountants did us proud. Well done to all and congratulations to the newest players of the week: Éanna Sheehan and Dylan Carroll. A round of applause for two great players.

Tralee Parnells Under 11 boys.

U11 Boys

Well done to our U11 boys who with the help of some U9s gave a fantastic performance on Saturday evening when they played against Rathmore at home in Caherslee. The boys displayed great skill and determination, led by their captain fantastic Jay Howard McLarnon today.

U13 Boys

The U13 boys played their second round of the Division 1 U13 County Under League on Tuesday evening of last week away to Crotta, who last week claimed the North Kerry Division 1 title. Blue skies provided the backdrop to a pitch in near perfect condition. Both sides had periods of attacking possession in the opening quarter but the home side were more clinical in front of goal and lead 2-5 to 0-1 at the first water break. Both sides worked hard all over the pitch in very warm conditions. Parnells fought a strong rear guard action in the run in to half time to keep the scoring changes to a minimum.  At half time the home side lead 3-06 to 0-2.

The second half was a much more balanced affair. Parnells put in a massive effort in all areas of the pitch with many more players winning individual duals.  The additional level of effort resulted in more Parnells scoring opportunities as the second half progressed.  A late goal was the least that was deserved.  The Final score was Crotta O’Neils 3-14 Tralee Parnells 1-04.  The boys are well deserving of the praise they received at the end of the game.  The honesty of endeavour and unwillingness to concede despite the odds will stand them well in times to come. Parnells Abu.

Junior Hurling

Division 3 Hurling League – Wednesday 21st July: Parnells V Abbeydorney.

On a very hot and humid evening in Caherslee the Tralee parnells Juniors hosted Abbeydorney in the 4th round of the Division 3 League.  Despite the tough conditions both teams served up a cracking display of hurling with some wonderful scores, individual skill, and team work on display.   Parnells started the game well and a wonderful goal from Colm Gilligan (Gilly) put Parnells into a deserved four point lead.  Abbeydorney were hurling well but failed to convert scoring chances and some wonderful saves from stand in goalie Damien Kissane keeping Abbeydorney at bay.  Soon after the water break a superb pass from Kevin Hannifan found Stephen Morrissey who rounded the keeper to score Parnells second goal.  In the dying minutes of the half Abbeydorney struck their first goal of the game leaving the score line 2-4 to 1-4 in favour of Tralee Parnells.

The second half sprung into life with both teams exchanging points with some wonderful scores from both sides.  A good Abbeydorney attack caused confusion in the Parnells defence and a penalty being conceded was buried expertly and put the visitors into a 2 point lead.  As is with the spirit of all Parnell teams our never say die attitude once again was on display and another superb individual goal from Gilly put Parnells one up.  However, a third goal for Abbeydorney soon after saw us three points down with five minutes to go.  Both teams exchanged points in the dying minutes but that last goal proved decisive to see Abbeydorney run out winners by three points. Final score 3-12 to 3-09.

Best on the day for Parnells were Damien Kissane, Tommy O Connor and Gilly.  The team will play Crotta away next Wednesday for our final game of the Junior League.  Parnells Abu !

Summer Camp

In glorious sunshine close to eighty boys and girls attended our Summer Camp in Caherslee last week.  A big thank you to Kerry Motor Works who kindly sponsored the camp.  As well as improving their skills the children had great fun.  Thanks to the fantastic weather a few water balloon fights helped with target practise !.  Many thanks to the kids who attended and behaved so well all week. Well done to the ten coaches that helped and to leader Ruairí O’Sullivan who ran a great camp.  Looking forward to our next camp already.
