U7 Hurling

Our under 7’s experienced a slight change to schedule last week as they took to the pitch for training on Tuesday evening in Caherslee.  Fortunately, the weather was with us as was the enthusiasm of our young players and an enjoyable training session was had by all. Congratulations to this week’s players of the week, Cian O’Carroll and Oran Hegarthy.  Well done boys.

The Tralee Parnells U12 Blue team who played against Cillard at home in Caherslee

U12 Camogie
Our U12 Blue team had their best performance of the season so far against Cillard on Wednesday evening in Caherslee. All of the hard work and training is really paying off. Many thanks to Cillard for a very sporting game. Well done to both teams.

Junior Camogie
On Tuesday of last week it was the turn of Tralee Parnells to host Causeway in the Junior Camogie League.  It was a baptism of fire in the first half for our squad who are missing some players and also in need of more regular training as a team.

We were tight on numbers and trying to fill gaps from those unavailable, plus the lack of training together came against us big time.  However, the players didn’t give up and after getting a much needed breather at half time, they started the second half in brilliant form, with our new player Ciara O’Shea bolstering the back line.

The battling Parnells side ended up winning the second half, scoring 9 points, plus Labhaoise was unlucky to have a ball scrambled off the goal line.  If we had not gone so far behind in the first half, who knows how it would have turned out.  It goes to show there is serious potential in this squad if we can get everybody back and get into a routine of training regularly.

Over to the players now, to start driving the training schedule.  On a related note, we wish a speedy recovery to team member Chloe and hope to see you back in a Parnells jersey soon.  Players on the night: Jessica O’Loughlin, Rachael O’Sullivan, Ciara Casey, Labhaoise Mansfield, Nóra Cadogan, Saoirse Maloney, Alice O’Connell, Róise O’Donnell, Ella Breen, Eugenie Kerins, Ciara Moloney, Katie Dwyer, Shauna Harris, Gráinne Leahy, Ciara O’Shea.

Cúl Camp
There are still some places available on our club Cúl Camp which runs from Monday 8th to Friday 12th August at Caherslee GAA grounds.  Go to https://www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie/booking to secure your place.

Congratulations
Huge congratulations to Tralee Parnells own Kirby Anne Ryan who is back available to play with our Camogie minors, now as holder of double All-Ireland trophies.  Kirby Anne won All-Ireland gold in both discus and shot put, representing Tralee Harriers AC, at the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Track and Field Championships in Tullamore on July 3rd.  Athletics Ireland reported that the U19 shot put competition saw an outstanding round of consistent throws from Kirby Anne Ryan (Tralee Harriers AC) who took gold with a best throw of 10.19m.  Well done Kirby Anne, from all at Tralee Parnells.

Best Wishes
Best wishes to our adult Camogie player Chloe Sweeney, who is enjoying a very well deserved sun holiday, following her unfortunate recent involvement in a car accident.  No better way to get some rest, recreation and heat to help the aches and pains, sounds like just what the doctor ordered.  We look forward to seeing you back in a Tralee Parnells jersey very soon Chloe.

Buster Fundraiser

The Club will hold a Buster fundraiser on Saturday the 13th of August in Kingdom greyhound track. We are asking members and friends to purchase a Ticket for the Race Night. The money raised will go towards the maintenance of the pitch at Tralee Sports Complex which has recently been made available to the club.

Tickets cost €10 and each ticket gives one person entry to the track and a chance to win €500 in the main Buster race. A ‘Buster’ race is one where you have a 1 in 720 chance of your ticket number matching the winning combination of the Buster race.

Entry to the track is free for Under 14s but to enter the buster race you must purchase a ticket.  Everyone that attends on the night will be entered into a raffle for a fantastic prize as well as the chance to win some spot prizes in our lucky dip.

Not only will we have some talented hurlers and camogie players but some of our club musicians will be present on the night to entertain the crowd.  We’ll have some novelty events for the kids and it goes without saying that a night at the dogs promises to be a night of excitement and fun for all the family.
Tickets are available to purchase on Friday evenings in Caherslee or by contacting David on 085 135 5566

Clothes Collection
We will hold a clothes collection on Friday morning the 12th in Caherslee.  The club will receive money for the clothes collected.  Please bring along any re-wearable Items of clothing and as well as paired shoes, handbags, belts, towels, curtains or blankets.
