traleeparnells 2Great Trip to Tipp:
Our Parnells under 12 girls had a great day our on our trip to the Camán to Thurles Camogie Blitz.

We played 3 games, against two Tipp selections and one Cork side. The mentors and parents who traveled on the day agreed that It was very encouraging to see how much these girls have come along since last year.

This time we were much more competitive in all 3 games and were within a score of the opposition at the end of one of the matches, while we presented an attacking threat in all the games.

We were missing some girls this year who were huge assets to the 2015 panel and have moved up to the under 14 grade. So it was extremely heartening to see their younger teams mates step up and contribute to the team with excellent spirit.

Around the middle of the field Ailisha Daughton was hugely effective in winning possession, Sile Lynch who is new to the club showed excellent effort, while Caoilinn Hickey battled fiercely with girls bigger and older and was rewarded with an excellently taken goal. Our thanks to Lia O’Connell who did a great job officiating in two of the games as our volunteer referee.

Our team on the day were Caoimhe Donnelly, Caoilinn Hickey, Caoimhe Lyons, Clodagh O Sullivan, Sadhbh Cadogan, Aoife O’Sullivan, Nora Cadogan, Danielle Griffin, Jessica O’Loughlin, Emma McCluskey, Aoife Foran, Anna Kerdzaia, Ailisha Daughton, Sile Lynch. On the bus home every girl got a page with details of an invitation to the Camogie All Ireland in September. These application must be completed on line, We encourage all of the girls to apply and if there are enough takers we hope to be able to travel to Croke Park as a group.
Abbeydorney trip by Under 6 and 8s:
Great photos of an enjoyable evening where we had two teams in action, on our Facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/TraleeParnellsHurlingClub/
Under 10 boys Host Vincent’s:
A big week is in prospect for our under 10 boys.  Wednesday 11th we play in a South Kerry blitz in Firies and then next Saturday 14th we welcome St Vincent’s from Dublin to Caherslee for what should be a fantastic morning of hurling.

St Vincent’s from Dublin brought fifty under 10 boys to Caherslee where they played three Parnells teams, a team from Kilmoyley and Abbeydorney on Saturday.  A fantastic morning of hurling was enjoyed, see Facebook for photos.

Jigsaw Kerry Team Talk:
Tralee Parnells teenage players enjoyed an inspirational talk Friday evening as part of the training sessions, from our local Jigsaw Kerry Team and are proud to be the first GAA Club in Kerry to offer this talk. Our Camogie Jerseys are now bearing the Jigsaw logo in support of this fantastic service.

There were some key take home messages around our roles as club coaches and parents in promoting positive mental health and the importance of listening and encouraging people to talk about mental health.  ‪#‎helpingtoriseawarness‬ ‪#‎mentalhealth‬ ‪#‎sport‬ ‪#‎talkinghelps‬ are Facebook tags for further info.

The children enjoyed exploring issues around what helps our mental health and what hurts out mental health. We would like to thank Jimmy and Donagh for organising and delivering this fantastic talk and look forward to working with them in the future.  See more info at https://www.facebook.com/JigsawKerry/

Kerry U16 camogie:
We are very proud of Clodagh Begley who played for the Kerry U16 camogie team versus Waterford at the weekend.
