traleeparnells 2Big Blitz Big Success:
Congratualtions to all the volunteers and participants who helped make the Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Big Blitz day on Saturday, September 3rd a great success. We had 200 camogie players and 200 boys in action at John Mitchels GAA grounds.

Too many club members to mention but well done to all involved in organising the event. Our Club is going from strength to strength and after 4 years of continued growth, we are definitely looking good.

Club President:
It was lovely to see Eileen Cotter, President of Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Club, presenting the silverware at the 2016 Blitz.  We are proud to have Mrs. Cotter participating as as a living link with the very early days of our club, her father won the Kerry hurling Championship in 1919 playing for Tralee Parnells and her aunt also played Camogie for Tralee.

Visiting Clubs:

Thank you to Bishopstown, Laochra Óg Hurling & Camogie Club, Parteen GAA, Bruff Camogie Club, Cillard Camogie Club, Causeway Camogie Club, Killarney Camogie Club and to everybody who supported us in the Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Big Blitz.

Minor Hurling Medal:
A great photo at https://www.facebook.com/TraleeParnellsHurlingClub of the proud parents with Ciaran Breen. Two All Ireland minors medals for a Parnells player….not bad going at all.

Under 12 Boys:
Nice win for our under 12 boys against Abbeydorney at the weekend in the County league. One final game against Dr Croke’s to come

Big Blitz Healthy Club Theme:
Thanks to our local HSE health promotion unit and our Healthy club team for supplying displays to help raise awareness about the importance of healthy options.  #GoodFoodGoodMood #gaahealth.  Thank you very much to Jigsaw Kerry and to our local Tralee members of An Garda Síochána who spoke to many groups of the players today on the vital subject of mental health and wellbeing, after their teams competed at our Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Big Blitz .

Thanks Parnells Sponsors:
Thank you to Ballymac Dairy for sponsoring the under 12 and the under 15 Camogie perpetual cups and shields.  Thanks to Byrnes Spar, Monavalley, Caherslee & Oakpark Tralee for supplying the club with plenty of fruit and bottles of water for our Big Blitz.  Thanks once again to Pro-Plan Property Management for ongoing generous support.

Acknowledgement:
It was heartening to see the positive feedback on social media from those who attended our Big Blitz, including this nice post from Newcastle West Camogie mentors.

On behalf of the U12 Camogie team, the club & myself I would like to thank Tralee Parnells Hurling & Tralee Parnells Camogie for hosting a fantastic blitz yesterday in John Mitchell’s GAA grounds in Tralee.

It was a great day of Camogie & Hurling for teams of all ages and was very well organised. It comes back to what all the kids want again which is loads of game time. Everything yesterday was arranged to the tee, the dressing rooms, the referees were excellent, everything ran like clock work.

Great credit is due to everybody involved for all their hard work. A huge thanks to Mike, Carmel & club president Eileen Cotter who presented the awards.

What I was really impressed with also was that at the end of the tournament a talk was given by representatives from Jigsaw.ie which deals with mental health issues in young people & how to combat these.

I spoke with the representatives afterwards, he told me they were dealing with clubs in Kerry at the moment & hope to move to clubs in Limerick next so this one is well worth looking out for.

Our kids want to enjoy playing and everything possible should be done to help them do so. If anybody wants anymore information in the mean time log on to jigsaw.ie. Well done again to Tralee Parnells for an excellent event, you should take a bow.

Further Updates:
Please keep an eye on social media for further updates and for photos which are still continuing to come in, from the excellent Big Blitz.
