Well done to Killarney Camogie Club on a fantastic day in the Veronica Stack Memorial Day.
The buzz and excitement approaching Lewis road was infectious and it was wonderful to see so many girls from such a wide selection of clubs enjoying their sport.
Saturday was a great opportunity for the Parnells players to get lots of good game time and to practice the skills they have been working on as this season comes to a conclusion.
Our under 10 team who played their games on a section of the Crokes main pitch, won a point each from 2 draws against more established clubs.  Our 12s had a total of 4 matches and were able to match themselves against Cork and North Kerry oppositions.  Parnells under 14 / 15 were very competitive against Causeway, particularly in a low scoring first half.  After the group stage, we faced Killarney for the 2nd time in a week, in our semi final.  Once again this was a keenly contested encounter with the sides well matched.  Extra time was required to separate the clubs, with the home side edging it in the end.  A great day was had and well done to everyone who organised it and congrats to the winners in all categories.
Ardfert Trip:
We traveled with close to forty under 6 and 8 kids to our neighbours Ardfert Saturday, great morning of hurling. The kids then moved on to Pirate Petes in Banna for 2 more hours of madness.
Speedy Recovery:
Everyone in the club hopes for a speedy recovery to Giles O Grady who was injured playing with Kerins O Rahillys at the weekend. Giles was a popular school coach last term for Parnells.
CONCUSSION IN THE GAA:
What is Concussion? Concussion is a brain injury and can be caused by a direct or indirect hit to the player’s head or body. Concussion typically results in an immediate onset of short lived signs and symptoms. However in some cases, the signs and symptoms of concussion may evolve over a number of minutes or hours. Concussion diagnosis is a clinical judgement by a suitably qualified medical professional. GAA Concussion Guidelines.  The GAA Concussion Guidelines are based on international best practice and are approved and regularly reviewed by the GAA’s Medical, Scientific and Welfare Committee. The guidelines have received widespread acknowledgement and praise for their emphasis on the principle “if in doubt, sit them out”.
