Tralee Photographer In The Prizes At PPAI Awards

Domnick Walsh’s photo which came second in the Politics category at the PPAI awards in Dublin last night.

TRALEE photographer Domnick Walsh was among the prize winners at the Press Photographers Association of Ireland awards last night in Dublin.

Freelance photographer Domnick came second in the Politics category for his photo of a young boy sitting between his brother’s legs at the Local Elections count in Tralee back in May last year.

Awards were presented across nine categories – news, daily life and people, nature and the environment, politics, sports action, sports feature, portrait, art and entertainment and reportage, alongside a dedicated award for multimedia.

Domnick Walsh with his second place award at the Press Photographers Association of Ireland awards last night, with Michael Chester Press Photographers Association of Ireland and RTE’S Miriam O’Callaghan.

A former photographer with The Kerryman/Corkman newspapers, Mark Condren, was named Press Photographer of the Year at the awards ceremony.

The Castletownroche native was awarded first prizes in the politics, portrait and multimedia categories. It was his fifth time winning the top award.
