We were delighted to host the Kerry County Matchplay for the second year in row on the 23rd of April and it was great to have three Tralee winners, with Gavin Carroll winning the Intermediate Grade, Michael Creagh winning the Junior Grade, and Lisa O’Connor winning the Ladies Section.

We are very proud of our beaten finalists, Michael Conway in the Senior Grade, Mark O’Regan in the Junior Grade, and Rosemarie O’Sullivan in the Ladies Section.

Tony Blake was the winner of the Club’s Quick Fire Matchplay Competition on the 22nd of April to allow our members to prepare for the County Matchplay.

The competition split players into groups of 4 and 5 with a World Cup-style format where matches were played over 6 holes and the semi final and final played over 9 holes.

Tony beat Mark Lucey in the final after they beat Rodger Guthrie and Michael Conway respectively in the semi finals.

It was great to see 28 kids from the ages of 10 to 16 attend our Juvenile Open Day during the Easter Holidays. Some of these kids also participated in the Pitch and Putt Community Games at the course on Saturday the 22nd.

Massive thanks to National Coach Stephen Enneguess for visiting the course on Monday the 24th to provide adult coaching. Stephen will be back on the 11th and 25th of May to provide juvenile coaching to local schoolchildren.

Our attention now turns to a busy few weeks that will culminate in the Club hosting the Munster Matchplay Championships on the third weekend in May.

Before that though are the qualifiers on the 7th of May and the National Matchplay Qualifiers during that week.
