TRALEE has once again retained its Tidy Towns Gold Medal for the eighth year in a row. It received 331 points, up eight on last year’s total.

Kenmare, Killarney and Listowel also retained their Gold status at the Tidy Towns competition awards at the Helix in Dublin today.

Bronze medal status has also been bestowed upon Sneem, Portmagee and Knightstown. Castleisland Community College won gold in the Climate Action competition. Sneem was also announced as winners in the Regional Pollinator Award.

It’s a testament to the great work being carried out by the local Tidy Towns group in Tralee, Team Bramble, Kerry County Council and local community groups.

Joe Moynihan  of Tidy Tralee Together wished to thank everyone involved in the Tidy Towns effort, all the voluntary groups and especially Kerry County Council for their co-operation over the past year.

Congratulations! I was in Beautiful Tralee this year for the Rose of Tralee . It was absolutely fantastic, well organized festival and the best part our Daughter was the Boston rose . We as a family home from Boston spent 9 days in Tralee . I was absolutely amazed how well the place was cleaned up after many late nights on Denny Street in particular. Some nights crowds were still on the streets at 3/4 am . By 7 am the next morning the streets were spotless and ready for the days festivities. Well done to all involved in this !
