Tralee Rowing Club will host its ‘Rowathon’ this weekend.

TRALEE Rowing Club (TRC) will host their rescheduled 24-hour charity rowing event this weekend, as they look to raise much-needed funds for the completion of their new clubhouse that is being built.

The event had originally been set to take place on March 28 but had to be postponed due to bad weather on the day.

The event is now scheduled to go ahead this Saturday April 25 at 2pm and will continue on through the night until 2pm the next day Sunday April 26. Teams from all over Kerry and further afield will be converging on the town this weekend for what promises to be an excellent event.

Minister Jimmy Deenihan will even come down to take part when he joins in on the fun and will row from 1pm-2pm on the Sunday afternoon.

A total of 48 crews will take part in the event, with two crews per hour rowing up and down the length of the canal. Members of the public are being encouraged to come down and show their support to the rowers.

Phase 1 of the new boathouse, built by JF Flynn Construction Tralee, has recently been finished at the canal. It will replace the old container used as the club’s base for the past 10 years. The club now needs to raise €15,000 to complete the build.
