There were seven medals won and club captain Heidi Giles, the committee and coaching team expressed how proud they were of the club’s success at the event.

Niamh Greaney won silver in the lightweight womens open 500m; Amy Moriarty – gold novice/fresher womens 1000m; Elizabeth Slattery – silver womens junior 16 1000m; Rosie Giles – bronze womens junior 16 500m; Sean Morris – silver mens junior 16 500m and Billy Giles silver mens junior 14 4 minutes and bronze mens junior 14 500m.

Four rowers were close to medalling taking 4th place in at least one of their races of the day.

Right across the club, beyond the medals, there were great results — 14 athletes achieved top 10 places and 23 achieved top 20 places.

Heidi explained that although called ‘provincial’ the event attracted entries from the four provinces.

“As coaches the challenge we give our athletes is to beat themselves, it is a great occasion to produce a personal best, we would like to congratulate all those who did and a special mention for those attending their first PIRC,” said Heidi.
