Tralee Rugby Club officially kicks off its 22/23 season this weekend and the club is calling on young people all around Tralee and surrounding areas from aged 6 upwards to check out the many membership options that the club has to offer.
First up is ‘minis’ training which kicks off this Saturday 3rd September from 10am-11am at John Mitchell’s GAA club.
This is a fun-filled, non-competitive training session for boys and girls aged between 6 and 12. With a fantastic team of coaches, children will learn all the basic skills of rugby and teamwork through non-contact activities. To find out more about minis rugby contact Helen Costello on 0872034817.
The youth age groups – boys and girls aged from U14 to U18 also kicks off and all teams are actively welcoming any young people who would be interested in trying out rugby for the first time. No experience needed, just come along and give it a go!
The senior men’s team will line out for their first competitive match of the season this Sunday as they take on Castleisland RFC away at 2.30pm. All support for the team is most welcome on the day.
Commenting on the new season, Rob Durran, Chairman of Tralee Rugby Club said; “It’s a brand-new season so it’s a great time to welcome new members. Over the summer, we’ve been working hard to deliver some exciting improvements in the club. We’ve just completed a major re-development of pitch 1, which will be ready to go for next season. We’ve also launched our new app and will have lots more to come over the coming months.”
He added; “Rugby is a fantastic sport to get involved in. It is non-contact until the age of 12 and offers so many benefits – fitness, friendships, trips away and hopefully some silverware along the way. We’re seeing more and more of our players go on to great success with some of our U18 boys and girls lining out for Munster Rugby this year, which is hugely exciting for the players, their families and the club itself.”
