“As a T-2 Paraplegic I’ve been involved with Spinal Injuries since my injury and know the value of the incredible work they do with both individuals and their families,” she said.

“Over the next 3 months, we will be fund-raising for the trip online and with various different events. Any donation is hugely appreciated and will make the life altering difference to people who sustain a Spinal Cord Injury and their loved ones,” added Ciara.

To kick start the fundraising they are holding a table quiz on Saturday, March 26 at 7.30pm in The Grand Hotel Tralee.

It costs €25 per table (max 5 people per table) and there’s some great spot prizes, including a night away B&B including an evening meal courtesy of The Metropole Hotel, Cork.

They also have a Facebook page for all events and updates  https://www.facebook.com/TallShipChallenge while the donation page can be accessed by  clicking here.

The Tall Ship Challenge sets sail on June 18 from Poole on the South Coast of England sailing towards the North coast of France before returning to dock in Dublin on the 25th.

The SV Tenacious Tall Ship will lead a crew of 40 people of all abilities including eight individuals with Spinal Cord injuries. Each individual is a member of the working crew with a role to play in contributing to the success of the voyage.
