TRALEE Toastmasters are making the best of a bad situation during the current COVID-19 crisis and last Monday at their usual meeting time of 8pm, they hosted their first virtual online Toastmasters meeting.

President Anthony Garvey presided over a meeting that had all the essential ingredients of a typical Toastmaster night out.

The participation of fellow Toastmasters from Listowel and Killarney clubs, showed the bonds of friendship are strong in the Toastmaster fraternity.

“There were 23 people online for the meeting, many of whom had never used the technology (Zoom) before,” Garvey said.  “We wanted to reach out to people, many of whom are cocooning and provide a little entertainment from some familiar faces for a few hours.”

Garvey was pleased with the performance of his team and made special mention of the technical support provided by Sergey Udaltsov. He said the proceedings showed the club is adaptable and prepared to deal with a fast changing environment.

The next club meeting will be on Monday, April 20th at 8pm.  If guests wish to attend the meeting, the club asks them to contact Sergey Uldaltsov (sergey.udaltsov@gmail.com) who will provide them with the Zoom meeting and login details.
