Eimear Sheehy will see her first ever play ‘Tomatoes’ staged in Listowel this Friday night.

THERE’S an old saying that states that ‘everyone has a story to tell’, and this much is definitely true for one talented Tralee woman as she prepares to see her play ‘Tomatoes’ take to the stage in Listowel.

Eimear Sheehy, originally from Ballinorig East, has put pen to paper on her first ever play and will see it staged in the St John’s Theatre & Arts Centre in Listowel this Friday, September 4.

“It’s the first play I’ve written, well, my first attempt shall we say! I’m fierce nervous, but I’m excited as well really. I want to get out there and just learn primarily. I think the way to do it is to take action, that’s what I hope to do anyway,” said Eimear when speaking to TraleeToday.ie on Wednesday.

“It [‘Tomatoes’] is a ‘dramedy’ I suppose. There’s a bit of comedy and it gets a bit more thoughtful at times I would hope. It’s set in a fruit and vegetable shop in smalltown Ireland. It’s the musings of a young woman and her ambitions and what she hopes to do with her life,” said Eimear, who is now based in Cork.

“It’ll be on in the St John’s Theatre & Arts Centre just as you come into Listowel, I think most people will know the place anyway, and it will be on at 8pm this Friday. Tickets will be €10 and €8 concession price,” she finished.

So, if you find yourself in or around the Listowel area around the 8pm time, please do try and pop in to show your support for Eimear and ‘Tomatoes’. It sounds like it could be a good one.
