Tralee’s Jobless Number Rose Again Last Month

TRALEE’S live register number increased again in January according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The number of people signing on in Tralee last month was 3,226, an increase of 81 on December.

That’s still a drop of around nine per cent on January 2019 when the figure was 3,529. However, the number has risen steadily since October.

Countywide, 7,716 people signed on last month with the number increasing by 323 or 4% on December. It’s a drop of around eight per cent on the January 2019 figure of 8,399. The numbers rose and fell in the various social welfare offices around the county last month.

The Killarney jobless figure is up 141 to 1,419, Dingle is up 33 to 580, Caherciveen is up 48 to 376 and Kenmare rose by 77 to 364. But the numbers fell in Listowel by 54 to 1,199 as did Killorglin down three to 552.
