Tralee Fenit GreenwayTHE CIE and Kerry County Council are nearing agreement regarding the transfer of lands to Council ownership for the Fenit Amenity Trail.

The Fenit Amenity Trail aims to provide a walkway/cycleway from Tralee all the way to Fenit on the old disused railway line.

After a motion from Sinn Féin Cllr Pa Daly at the Tralee Municipal District on Tuesday regarding updates on the project, Council management said they are in the final stages of discussion with CIE and most of the contractual details have been resolved.

A final draft contract has been proposed by CIE and the Kerry County Council legal team are examining the details with a view to a prompt response. It is hoped to have the property transferred to Kerry County Council ownership in the coming weeks.

Cllr Daly also said he had been informed by Chief Executive, Moira Murrell, that she is hopeful the project will be included in the next round of funding in Capital Grants For Tourism Projects.

“This is very good news. The message needs to get out there to the people who want to use the trail that we are moving on this,” said Cllr Daly.
