TRALEE Triathlon Club has just launched a new “Countdown2Tri” training programme for all levels of athletes.

The club has put together a special training programme to help aspiring triathletes cross the finish line this year at the Landers sponsored Tri Kingdom Come, which takes place on July 30.

The programme, has been drawn up some of Kerry’s top coaches including running coach, Marie O’Keeffe McCarthy who has represented Ireland and is a qualified personal trainer and running coach.

Coaching cyclists will be Cian Hogan who is a former Rás cyclist and a Cycling Ireland coach and John Edwards of Wild Water Adventures who is a qualified swimming coach and lifeguard.

They will be joined by fitness coaches from Nisus Fitness and club members have also signed up to help and support anyone training for this event.

Triathlon Ireland have also come on board and will run transition workshops for all athletes.

The programme is specifically designed for new triathletes and any athletes looking to train specifically for the club’s triathlon and incorporates a training programme for all three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running.

There will also be beach bootcamps to help improve your fitness.

It will run for 12 weeks and is suitable for all levels including complete beginners and more advanced athletes all with the aim of completing Tri Kingdom Come on July 30th.  The programme will begin on May 1st.

Chairperson, Siobhan Griffin, says that the new initiative is to help everybody fulfil their dream of completing a triathlon.
