IT’S the final countdown for Tralee Triathlon club’s Tri Kingdom Come Triathlon which takes place on Saturday, July 30th in Fenit.

Entries are now flying in daily for the fun event which will attract athletes from across the county and further afield.

Closing date for registration is next Thursday, July 28th but places are filling up fast and once the race is full registration will close.

Race director, Joanne Allman, is advising anyone who wants to take part in this great event to sign up now.

“There has been great interest in this event from near and far and places are filling up quickly so sign up immediately to take part in one of Kerry top triathlons,” she said.

Landers sponsors Tri Kingdom Come Triathlon is one of the county’s only triathlons this year and guarantees to be a fun event in the beautiful surrounds of Fenit.

Road closures are in place from 10.15am until 1pm in the morning on the main Tralee to Fenit road and locals and competitors are asked to take note of this.

Tralee Triathlon Club have teamed up with the RNLI as their charity partner for the event and are raising funds for the life-saving service. A very successful table quiz has already raised over €1,500 for the charity.

Fenit Development Association and the local national school are also supporting the event and proceeds from the triathlon will benefit the local community.

The sprint triathlon is a 750m swim, a 20km cycle and a 5km run, all within the environs of Fenit and it is the perfect event to test your fitness this year.

For those not ready for the Sprint distance, a Try-a-Tri event, will also be held on the day and is ideal for all beginners.

This is a 250m swim, an 8k cycle and a 2.5k run, and is the perfect way to get a taster of the triathlon world.

Relay teams are also welcome for Tri Kingdom Come and there is set to be great competition among the numerous teams already signed up.

All participants get a medal, t-shirt and goodie bag and there are hand-crafted Monson wooden trophies for the winners.

There will also be a BBQ and DJ and spectators and competitors are set to enjoy a fantastic sporting events in one of Kerry top locations.
