The huge crowd in Denny Street at the homecoming on Monday, September 22.

WHILE the Kerry teams’ homecoming to Tralee was skimmed over by RTE, Irish TV captured all the atmosphere and can be seen in a special programme this Friday.

A crowd of up to 25,000 people packed Tralee streets to welcome home the Kerry senior and minor teams after their victories over Donegal last month.

But on RTE’s coverage that night all we saw was five seconds of footage followed by interviews with players in Rathmore and a live feed from Paschal Sheehy in Killarney.

‘Mad For Sam’ promises to capture the atmosphere from the town as well as contrasting it with the different emotions at the Donegal homecoming the same night.

“We have followed the progress of both these counties from the very beginning of the year and we wanted to do something special to mark the end of this great championship,” said Irish TV CEO Pierce O’Reilly.

It airs at 10pm on Friday on Sky channel 191, Freesat 400, all free-to-air boxes, Eircom’s eVision 191 and online at www.irishtv.ie
