STAFF at The Counter Cafe in Manor have been left devastated after they were told the Cafe is set to close its doors on Saturday, April 9, resulting in the loss of twelve jobs.
The café, formerly known as The Streat, was taken over by a Limerick businessman, Brian Dunne, just over a year and a half ago and first opened its doors in 2011 with many of the staff having worked at the business since then.
In the letter posted by the owner in the Cafe, he states: “I regret to inform you the Cafe will be closing Saturday the 9th of April. I fully appreciate how over the last four and a half years this business has played an important role in our customers’ and employees’ lives and that it will be sadly missed.”
“For my part I only played a walk on role in the business but I always had high hopes of taking a larger role and developing it further, and I am very disappointed it was not to be. But perhaps some other person will emerge who can deal with our new valiant landlords”, stated the letter.
Redundancy will be paid out to the staff after the loss of their jobs.
