Twelve Rural Post Offices In Kerry To Close

BALLYMACELLIGOTT and Kilflynn Post Offices are among 12 rural offices that An Post has announced will close as part of An Post’s rationalisation plan.

An Post today published the locations of 159 Post Offices nationally where the serving postmaster has opted to retire under an agreement between An Post and the Irish Postmasters’ Union (IPU).

The 12 Kerry post offices to close are Asdee, Ballinskelligs, Ballylongford, Ballmacelligott, Banemore Cross, Currow, Duagh, Gneeveguilla, Kilflynn, Knocknagoshel, Mastergeehy, and Moyvane.

An Post that all of the offices which are due to close are within 15km of at least one other post office.

An Post has also announced the neighbouring offices where business will transfer to. Click here to see the full list.

Debbie Byrne, Managing Director of An Post Retail, thanked the postmasters who have chosen to retire for their great service to An Post and local communities over many years.

“We fully acknowledge that this process will be difficult for some customers and communities but the end result will be a strengthened, viable post office network serving the needs of our country for the future,” she said.
