TWO cheque presentations were made to the Kerry Hospice Foundation over the past week amounting to over €34,000 between them.

Breda Buckley called into the Palliative Care Unit at UHK on Friday with family and friends to present a cheque for €2,600. This was raised from a CD of songs recorded in a studio by her late husband John, from Scartaglin, who passed away eight months ago.

“John decided to do the CD late last year and we’re delighted he did it, because it’s the only recording of him singing that we have,” said Breda.

“John’s brother Dave suggested we give the proceeds to the Palliative Care because they were so good to John, they made an awful time for him more bearable,” said Breda. Kerry Hospice thanked Breda, her family and friends and all who supported and bought the CD.

The previous day saw a presentation of a cheque for €31,792 presented to Kerry Hospice from the 54321  Challenge in August.

Over the course of four days, teams of participants, including one from Kerry Hospice, cycled the Ring Of Kerry, climbed Carrantuohill, cycled from Kilarney to the foot of Mt Brandon, climb that mountain and cycled from Dingle to Killarney. Again, Kerry Hospice thanked all those who contributed to and took part in the Challenge.
