Mary Shanahan and Joe Hennebery of Kerry Hospice receive a cheque for €17,617 from Ger Bythell and the Wallace family at the Palliative Care Unit on Saturday.

TWO cheques totalling over  €19,000 were presented to Kerry Hospice over the past few days after a fundraising dance and a marathon run in Killarney.

Back in March, Ger Bythell took on the ‘Torcathon’ around Killarney’s Cardiac Steps and Torc mountain as a tribute to his sister, Ros Wallace, who passed away last November. Ros was originally from Cork, but settled in Killarney with her husband Alan and their children Rachel, Richard and David.

Ger wanted to do something after the amazing care she received at the Palliative Care Unit and set up a fundraising page for the event.
