Two Mobile Phone Thefts From Young Teenagers In Town Last Week

GARDAI are urging young people to be vigilant after two mobile phone thefts in the town last week.

On Thursday night, a teenage boy was in the Town Park and was approached by a group of youths. They asked to borrow his phone to make a call but then made off with the device.

On Friday night, around 9pm, a 13 year old girl had her mobile phone stolen by group of youths on Edward Street. Gardai say the incidents may be linked.

They are warning young people to be vigilant and never give their phone to someone they don’t know. Gardaí are advising them to not take them out in isolated areas and not to go down town on their own and stay with friends.

They also encourage young people to have tracking apps on the phone and make sure it’s PIN-locked to make it as awkward as possible for thieves.
