TWO Tralee schools have been chosen to take part in a pilot Government scheme which aims to increase and enhance creative activities within the State’s education system.

Presentation Primary School, Tralee and Scoil Eoin Balloonagh, Tralee are two of five Kerry schools chosen in the pilot scheme. The others are Faha National School Killarney, Fybough National School, Castlemaine and Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare.

The Creative Schools scheme, which is being led by the Arts Council as part of the Creative Ireland Programme, will begin in September, with the aim of enhancing pupils’ engagement with creativity and the arts in classrooms, while also forging links between schools and the regional creative community.

The inclusion of the Kerry schools has been welcomed by the Cathaoirleach of Kerry, Cllr John Sheahan: “The high level of applications for this programme underlines the awareness of the value of creativity for children and young people. Congratulations to the successful schools and I look forward to increasing numbers of participating schools as the programme is rolled out in the coming years.”

  1. I think it’s sad to see only the big schools in Tralee chosen.
