This being the first time they applied, Fergal and John can count themselves lucky they were successful when the ballots were announced.

“We were lucky to get in, now all we have to do is run it!” said Fergal.

The lads will be part of a group of 250 running for ‘Croí’. All funds gathered will stay in Ireland.

To raise money for ‘Croí’, there will be a race night held in Sean Og’s on Monday, February 29.

On the night, which is due to get going at 8pm, there will be a tote system in place and loads of spot prizes for every race. There will be prizes for best jockey and trainer along with a raffle.

If you can’t make it on the night, horses will be sold in advance and any donations will be kindly accepted at the bar in Sean Og’s.
