Those with Type 2 Diabetes will get the chance to attend free education sessions in Kerry this Autumn.

THERE will be a series of free education sessions held in and around Kerry this coming Autumn for people with Type 2 diabetes.

The sessions are planned for Dingle, Tralee, Listowel, Kenmare and Castleisland over the next few months.

This award winning X-PERT programme is being organised by the HSE Community Dietitian, Carina Corridon with the help of local general practitioners.

The aim of the programme is to educate people affected by Type 2 diabetes so that they can best manage their condition, improving their health and increasing their control over their diabetes.

The programme will consist of a two and a half hour education session each week, for six weeks, during which participants learn all about what diabetes actually is, what treatments are available, and how diabetes is affected by weight, diet and exercise.

“Attending the X-PERT Programme has been proven to help increase participants knowledge, skills and confidence in managing their own diabetes, in an enjoyable group format. The X-PERT Programme really does make a difference,” said Carina Corridon.

To book your place on a course, or to find more information, you can fill in the online form at found on the HSE website here.

The next programme in Dingle is scheduled to start in September.
