Unemployment Rose In Tralee And Around The County Last Month

THE live register figure for Tralee increased in December by 88 people from the previous month, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

There were 3,458  people signing on last month compared to 3,370 in November. However, the figure is down 478 on the same month in 2017, a decrease of 12.1%.

In Kerry, there were 8,209  people signing on last month which is around an 8% increase on the November figure of 7,606.

Killarney’s live register was 1,583 last month up from 1,253 in November. Dingle increased  from 523 to 585.

Killorglin also saw an increase from 568 to 627, Cahersiveen was up  from 331 to 366 and Kenmare rose from 291 to 328 in the space of a month. Listowel was the only town to see a decrease…of just one person! (1,263 to 1,262)

Despite this, over the course of the past year, the Live Register figure in Kerry fell by 11.4%, from 9,266 in December 2017 to 8,209 last month.
