Screen Shot 2015-11-11 at 16.03.17KERRY County Council say floodwaters in many parts of the county have now receded following heavy rainfall overnight last night.

All major routes are now passable and the only road to remain closed in the county is the R570 road between Glenflesk and Barraduff.

However Kerry County Council is advising motorists to exercise caution on all routes as there is a Status Yellow wind warning in place for Kerry from 9pm tonight to 9am on Wednesday.

South-west winds will strengthen again this evening and overnight and will later veer NW. Mean speeds 50 to 65 km/hr with gusts to around 90 km/hr are expected, winds will be strongest in exposed coastal fringes.

A combination of strong winds, high tides and heavy rain brings the enhanced risk of coastal flooding overnight and tomorrow to exposed coastal areas.

The following is the situation around the county as at 4.30pm:

Tralee: All roads in the Tralee area are now clear, including the bypass and Ballymullen

Killarney: The Foiladown road near Glenflesk has now re-opened as has the road between Coolcorcoran and Knockeendubh

The R570 road between Glenflesk and Barraduff remains closed.

Motorists are advised to watch out for the surface water on the roads this evening and tomorrow morning and to take precautions with their property ahead of forecasted high winds.
