Valentia Observatory Records Highest Rainfall Amounts For May In 15 Years

AS if you needed telling, May was a very wet month in the county judging by the data from Valentia Observatory.

Monthly rainfall totals were as much as 174.0 mm (186% of its LTA) at Valentia Observatory, Co Kerry, the highest in the country and the wettest May recorded there since 2006.

There were 24 ‘rain days’ recorded at the Kerry location, 22 ‘wet days’ and eight ‘very wet days’, all of which were the highest in the country for the month.

Meanwhile, the weather is set to remain showery over the next few days with drier conditions on the way for Saturday and Sunday.

Unfortunately, at the moment it looks like Monday and Tuesday will be a return to more showery weather in Kerry — just in time for outdoor dining and drinking — but hopefully there will be a more positive update to the forecast in the next few days!
