IT turned out to be a really cool first day in St Ita’s and St Joseph’s as the 82 students started back to school and staff took the Ice Bucket Challenge.

The Caherslee school, which caters for children and teenagers with a mild learning disability and draws its attendance from all over the county, welcomed six new arrivals on Friday and they adapted to school life with ease.

“All the students have settled in very well,” said Deputy Principal, Anne O’Keeffe.  “The new arrivals have got on great and everyone seems to be back into it,” she said.

Later that day the students were treated to watching the staff take a soaking for charity. Principal Grace Sheehan explains in the video below.
